Dry Ice Blast Cleaning

Dry Ice Blast Cleaning Ensures the highest performance from your electrical assets and power systems

Dry Ice Blast Cleaning electrical equipment from dust and other debris is important to ensure reliable service. A build of detritus can cause components to fail, overheat and even catch fire. Electric motors are prone to failure due to dust, as well as circuit breakers and other equipment housed in electric control cabinets.

The issue with cleaning electrical equipment is that liquids cannot be used without isolating the electrical system down and removing components one by one. This is expensive and impractical. Chemical cleaning can cause corrosion, as well as being conductive in some cases. Brushing and scrubbing of electrical gear can also be too abrasive.

Dry Ice Cleaning Technique

This method of dry ice cleaning offers a solution to these problems. It is non-abrasive, non-liquid and non-toxic. A stream of frozen solid particles of carbon dioxide (dry ice) is accelerated towards the surface of electrical equipment, cleaning it thoroughly without damaging any equipment, contacts or connections.

There is also the added advantage of leaving no chemical residue, as the dry ice will return to a gas state when it reaches room temperature. Dry ice blast cleaning is approved by the FDA, EPA and USDA, making it the ideal cleaning process for laboratories, food preparation spaces and other hygiene and chemical-sensitive areas as well as electrical assets

RB Marine Power Engineering are able to provide this maintenance service on any ageing or fire damaged electrical equipment; bringing electrical assets back up to their highest standard of performance. The service can also be provided for galley cleaning of kitchens and food preparation areas.

Advantages

  • Non-abrasive – zero damage to equipment
  • Non-toxic – zero chemical residue
  • Hygienic – suitable for all environments
  • Cost-effective – no need to remove and replace components
